parks detail
- Hook
- A boat-in-only wilderness of freshwater springs welling through recent lava — one of CA's least visited parks
- More
- Ahjumawi means 'where the waters come together' in the language of the Pit River people, whose ancient fish traps still line the spring channels. Reachable only by boating across Big Lake from a gravel-road put-in — expect to share it with ospreys, eagles, and almost no humans.
