- The North Berkeley climbing parks — Indian Rock, Mortar Rock, Cragmont, Remillard — are among the most accessible outdoor climbing in the Bay Area, right in a residential neighborhood. Cragmont's dozen bolted top-ropes (5.6–5.12) are perfect for a first outdoor session. Also a genuine birthplace of American climbing technique.
- Intl tip
- Indian Rock is famous for sunset views over the Golden Gate — locals gather on top nightly. The parks are steps from North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto (Chez Panisse, Cheese Board). Combine an urban bouldering session with Bay Area dining and history.
