- Intl tip
- One of Southern California's most famous swimming-hole spots, along the upper Santa Ynez River in the Los Padres backcountry north of Santa Barbara — deep green pools, polished slides, and jumping ledges that crowd all summer. Not a technical descent but a beloved aquatic playground: wade, swim, and leap with little more than a swimsuit and good judgment. Jumping injuries are common (check depth, never dive), spring high water can be deadly (go in the warm low-flow season), and it's crowded, hot, and shadeless. Avoid around storms.
- Directions note
- Park at the Red Rock day-use area at the end of Paradise Rd (river crossings may close the road after storms)
