- Camping under redwoods on Lagunitas Creek, on the site of the West's first paper mill

- Taylor's 1856 Pioneer Paper Mill was the first on the Pacific Coast, and his resort Camp Taylor pioneered recreational camping in the West. Today the Cross Marin Trail follows the old narrow-gauge rail bed under the redwoods along Lagunitas Creek — where coho salmon still spawn each winter.
