Conditions
Thermals generated by sun heating the 2,200ft south-facing mountain face. Unlike coastal sites, no wind is required to fly — thermal activity alone lifts pilots. Consistent conditions from midday onward on sunny days (which is most days).
Ushpa
Temporary ratings issued for beginners. Multiple launch heights from 100ft (training) to 1,200ft allow progression at your own pace.
Intl tip
Soboba is about 90 minutes from Los Angeles and under an hour from San Diego. The on-site camping makes it an easy one-night stay if you're doing a multi-day intro course.
