Trail notes
A snow-sure groomed Nordic center at historic Tamarack Lodge in the Mammoth Lakes Basin — classic and skate trails winding among frozen lakes and pines, with deep eastern-Sierra snow
Terrain note
~8,600–9,000 ft; groomed lakes-basin trails; very deep reliable snow
Intl tip
Beautifully groomed Nordic skiing at the historic Tamarack Lodge (1924) in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, amid some of California's deepest, most reliable snow. Classic and skate trails wind through pines and around frozen lakes at ~8,600 ft, in superb shape from early winter into spring, with terrain for everyone plus snowshoe routes, and a cozy lodge for rentals, lessons, dining, and lodging. High elevation means altitude, cold, wind, and fierce sun; Hwy 203 access can be storm-affected — layers, hydration, sun protection, check conditions.
